THE FRENCH MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS USED ATOS ORIGIN`S ELECTRONIC VOTING PLATFORM IN SaaS MODE FOR THE ELECTION OF ITS ASSEMBLY FOR FRENCH EXPATRIATES.

This Internet voting platform is proven to be ergonomic, realiable and secure

French expatriates in Africa and America elected their representatives in the Assembly for French Expatriates (AFE) between 20 May and 7 June. The AFE has 155 Members and is in particular responsible for electing the 12 Senators who represent non-resident French persons. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wanted to make the voting procedure easier and more accessible and therefore offered French expatriates the opportunity to use an electronic voting system.  This is a benchmark project in terms of a legally valid political election. The Atos Origin solution meets strict requirements in terms of confidentiality, security, audit and compliance with standards. The Internet voting platform guarantees 24/7 access for voters and was designed for organisation of electronic voting in any type of election or consultation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs selected Atos Origin for its innovative approach in terms of organisation within a very restricted timescale. Atos Origin gave support to the Ministry in the needs definition phase and came up with a solution to meet the time requirements as well as requirements in terms of voting security and integrity and ease of use. The solution provided by Atos Origin together with its partner Scytl, a company specialising in electronic voting, complies with CNIL recommendations (French Data Protection Authority) on electronic voting and was audited based on these. The electronic voting platform was set up in under 5 months subsequent to specifications issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
